ACPE is pleased to report that full funding for the Alaska Performance Scholarship (APS) and Alaska Education Grant (AEG), through the Higher Education Investment Fund (HEIF), was included in the budget passed on May 20, 2025 for the upcoming 2025-26 academic year.
While it is still unknown if it will be necessary for the State to utilize the HEIF to cover a portion of the FY25 supplemental budget, funding for APS and AEG to eligible students for the upcoming 2025-26 academic year is secure.
ACPE stands ready to collaborate with the State of Alaska, University of Alaska, and postsecondary institutions and training providers across Alaska to honor our commitment to education funding solutions for Alaska’s students. As a reminder, to receive APS and AEG, a student must complete the FAFSA and include a participating Alaska institution or training provider. APS eligible students attending a non-Title IV institution/training provider, must complete the Alternative APS Application found in the Alaska Student Aid Portal. For FAFSA completion assistance, visit acpe.alaska.gov/alaskafafsacompletion.
ACPE will provide regular updates about the ongoing budget situation on acpe.alaska.gov.
The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education (ACPE) appointed Kerry Thomas as Executive Director. Thomas will also serve as the Executive Officer for the Alaska Student Loan Corporation (ASLC).
