Kids2Careers

Kids2Careers offers a variety of free resources to help 5th -12th grade students explore and plan for education and career training options after high school. Our goal is to provide you with resources and activities to help your students explore enrichment and dual credit programs, career and technical exploration options, and grade-level planning tools for students and families, and more. Downloadable activities are available for Grades PK-4.

Review our Family Guiding Steps for steps you can take each year of your child’s life, to help your student prepare for academic success during their PK-12 school years while helping prepare them for what will come after graduation.

Understand what students participating in the Kids2Careers Curriculum are learning and start beneficial conversations with your student about postsecondary education and career training.

After completion of the Kids2Careers Curriculum Program, families are encouraged to complete the online Family Survey/Scholarship Contest using the Big Blue Family Survey button below. One entry per family.

Alaska 529 is an education savings plan designed to make it easy for parents and loved ones to save for education. The Kids2Careers program is co-sponsored by the Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education and Alaska 529.

    I-can-beI Can Be…Series (Pre-K-Kindergarten)
    Students work on penmanship, spelling, coloring, and fine motor skills while learning about 56 careers, each depicted by both male and female characters. Available in English and Cup’ik.


    build_careers Careers Build a Community (Grades 1-3)
    Students learn about 56 careers and education requirements through a career journal and flash cards, and community helper cut-outs. Available in English and Cup’ik.

    careers_heroes Career Heroes (Grades 3-4)
    6-activity workbook & trading card activity helps students explore occupations and interests while learning about 32 careers, related skills & tools, and Alaska specific job details.

    Kids2Careers Classroom Curriculum includes a 6-lesson curriculum, educator resources, campus events & virtual tours, postsecondary & career prep panel discussions, and family resources.

    These panels provide students the opportunity to ask questions and learn firsthand about educational and career training pathways, enrichment and dual credit programs, resume, cover letter and interview tips, and general information on college life, trade schools, and apprenticeships. Panel discussions are broken into four tiers designed to best meet students in different age brackets. Each tier offers different discussion topics that will shape the conversation. Grade levels are flexible and provided as a guide.

    ACPE provides resources and tools to help students and families map their path to postsecondary training and career preparation. ACPE staff are available to present useful tools, activities, and timelines to help students take the right steps at the right time. By helping students learn what to do and when, they are more likely to prioritize their high school education, meet important deadlines for funding, and gain entry into to their choice of education or career training programs. Daytime or evening presentations available.

    Community volunteers, college campuses and career training programs are encouraged to participate as partners in the Kids2Careers Program. Students who complete Kids2Careers Curriculum are invited to participate in Postsecondary & Career Prep Panel Discussions and in-person or virtual campus events. We welcome your partnership and participation.
